About Community Mental Health Mecosta County Center
The Mescota County Center, operated by the Community Mental Health For Central Michigan, is an outpatient addiction treatment clinic in Big Rapids, Michigan. They offer mental health treatment, co occurring addiction and mental health treatment, and other social services to people of all ages.
Something that stood out to me about this location is that the addiction treatment services are exclusively for individuals with a co occurring mental health disorder. They’re also able to connect individuals that don’t have a co occurring mental health disorder to other providers that primarily focus on substance abuse treatment.
I like that the outpatient clinic has an intensive outpatient program that gives you the option of scheduling your sessions in the day or the evening. You’ll be in various group and individual counseling sessions multiple times a week. These groups typically discuss topics such as triggers, coping skills and anger management. You’ll be able to share your experiences with your peers and also receive their support throughout your recovery journey.
Your individual counselor will help you with meeting your treatment goals and give you insight about the cause of your addiction. Some therapeutic approaches your counselor may use could include cognitive behavioral therapy or dialectical behavioral therapy. These therapeutic approaches can help to change any negative beliefs hindering your recovery. You’ll also gain knowledge about managing your stress and regulating your emotions.
Big Rapids is a small town not too far from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Some of the interesting things you can spend time enjoying include the Big Rapids Riverwalk and the Newaygo State Park.
