Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services of Saint Joseph County operates under the name Pivotal and has three locations in Michigan, including the main office at 677 East Main Street in Centreville less than a mile from the beautiful historic courthouse. The organization is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that offers CARF accredited programs for treating substance use and co occurring mental health disorders.

Comprehensive Supportive Services in St. Joseph County

The clinic offers comprehensive services that include case management, medication management, psychiatric services, and treatment for clients with co occurring mental health disorders. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available for clients with opioid use disorder.

One of the things that struck me is how comprehensive the services are. There are programs for children, adults, and seniors. Women & Family Specialty Services (WFSS) treats pregnant women and women who are their children’s primary caregivers with SUD and/or co occurring mental health disorders. WFSS includes childcare and transportation so women can participate in treatment and attend necessary appointments.

There is a jail diversion program. This is for clients who may benefit more from treatment than incarceration and occurs before or after booking.

There are home based services for children who need intensive mental health treatment. The service focuses on the child but also supports the family. Care is for children from birth to 18 and includes Wraparound services that may be unrelated to mental health treatment.
