About Day Street Community Health Center
Located in Norwalk, Connecticut is the Community Health Center of Norwalk at Day Street. This is a community focused health center that serves adolescents, adults and families who have been impacted by substance use struggles, mental health challenges and other health challenges.
If you have a dependency on opioids, heroin, prescription drugs, alcohol, and other substances, you’ll find supportive care that’s offered through an outpatient setting. They also offer video appointments if you need immediate care or cannot come into the office.
MAT Programs for Recovery
Addiction recovery may require medical intervention and at the Community Health Center of Norwalk, there’s MAT using buprenorphine (Suboxone) and naltrexone (Vivitrol).
MAT is a starting point for helping stabilize your body and it's used in conjunction with other therapies like counseling support. I find that many individuals who receive MAT here say that they were supported with judgment free care and had targeted support that really helped them overcome their struggles.
Community Focused Support
One aspect of this Health Center that I really value is its supportive treatment of individuals from all walks of life. They recognize that addiction struggles do not discriminate yet that some communities are more vulnerable than others.
One way to help address these needs is through their diverse recovery programs. The Center for Key Populations or CKP handles the addiction treatment services here. This is important to note because they target populations that might have barriers to care.
This might include people who are living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. This also includes members of the LGBTQ community and homeless individuals. It's this community focused care that I find is most valuable with this health center. Their services reach deep into the community to help all who are ready for recovery find the services they need.
Addiction Treatment Programs
If you are looking for a young adult program in Connecticut, many options are available. Programs include inpatient, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient, aftercare, and dual diagnosis.

Women often find it easier to work through their addiction issues in women’s rehab in Connecticut. Surrounded by other women who understand their struggles, they can feel free to share openly and find support.
Veteran’s rehab in Connecticut is designed for military personnel who are experiencing substance use disorder and need specialized treatment. Programs address commonly occurring dual diagnosis, such as PTSD and depression.
Rational emotive behavioral therapy in Connecticut is a commonly used substance use treatment method. This treatment can be applied in individual, family, and group therapy settings. It helps participants recognize triggers and unhealthy thinking patterns and create coping mechanisms to maintain sobriety.
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an integrative, community-based care strategy designed to address the needs of persons with severe and/or complex mental illness or behavioral disorders. ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.
Levels of Care
Many individuals turn to outpatient rehab in Connecticut after they complete an inpatient program. This treatment is less intensive and usually involves attending several counseling sessions per week and attending a support group such as NA or AA. Outpatient rehab may be short or long-term, depending on the needs of the individual.
When you have a co-occurring disorder, you have both a substance abuse disorder and a mental health disorder. Dual diagnosis in Connecticut specializes in treating both conditions simultaneously, which is crucial for successful recovery.
