About Column Health Somerville
Behavioral Health Network (formerly known as BrightView and Column Health) specializes in outpatient medication assisted treatment in Somerville, Massachusetts. They utilize a multipronged approach to addiction treatment and recovery. Additional levels of care are available at other BHN clinics. BHN's opioid use disorder treatment programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
Using Medication to Manage Symptoms
Focusing on your recovery is difficult when you're dealing with severe withdrawal symptoms. This clinic uses FDA approved medications (including methadone and sublingual buprenorphine) to reduce these cravings so they no longer interfere with your daily activities. This form of medication assisted treatment (MAT) is typically used for opioid maintenance, but this location uses it as a tool in managing other substance abuse symptoms as well.
Medication use in this program is closely monitored. Your care team will keep track of your symptoms and wellbeing and make adjustments as needed.
Peer Support in the Living Room
The Living Room is located in BHN’s Springfield building. This space is open for you to meet with peers in recovery and other guests to share your experiences. It’s a great way to get support outside of your appointments.
I like the Living Room as an emergency service. Sometimes it’s enough to simply talk to someone when you’re having a difficult time. When appropriate, the Living Room can help you avoid unnecessary hospitalization.
Reinforcing Your Recovery Outside of Treatment
BHN's dedication to your recovery includes case management support. Case managers provide personalized care that helps you meet your daily needs. Common ways case managers help is connecting you with caregivers and other community resources as well as helping you manage your schedule.
What I like about this service is that it fills in the gaps that sometimes form when you're in recovery. They may seem small at first, but over time they can continue to grow. A case manager can keep you on track so these issues don't become a serious problem.
