About Colorado Moves

The Colorado Moves Counseling Center, located in Denver, Colorado, has been serving local residents since 1993. They offer court ordered classes for substance use as well as addiction relapse prevention counseling and individual therapy. Many people are referred to Colorado Moves by their parole officer.

The Center has a sliding fee scale for those who qualify, as well as reduced cash prices for specific services. In some cases, therapy or treatment may be covered by insurance.

Compassionate Counseling for Crime Reduction in the Denver Metro Area

Colorado Moves Counseling Center accepts people who are involved in the justice system as well as those who voluntarily enroll in their services. They provide addiction relapse prevention counseling and individual therapy, as well as court ordered classes.

The approach the center uses for those involved with the courts is moral reconation therapy (MRT), which is designed to lower the chances of re offense by promoting positive changes in behavior and challenging unhelpful beliefs and attitudes.

I was impressed to see that they offer several classes for domestic violence intervention too. They have domestic violence counseling and a parenting class that teaches about the impact of domestic violence on kids.

LGBTQ+ and Other Specialized Programs

I like that they have specific programs for the LGBTQ+ community that address domestic violence and anger management. Members of the LGBTQ+ community have unique concerns, which may include childhood trauma, rejection, experiences of discrimination and other situations specific to this community.

There are also anger management classes, an Alcohol or Drugs (AOD) counseling program, and life skills groups. Life skills such as communication, conflict resolution and more can help people avoid future problems with anger, violence and the courts.
