About Codac Behavioral Healthcare

Codac Behavioral Healthcare in Newport, Rhode Island, is a non profit organization that offers outpatient substance use disorder treatment services. Clients can receive treatment such as counseling, therapeutic massages, acupuncture and medication assisted treatment. The staff will create a treatment plan based on your personal strengths, needs and preferences. One thing I noticed about this facility is that they are accredited by the State of Rhode Island Department of Healthcare and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Effective Medical and Psychological Treatment

One thing I like about this facility is they provide a variety of medications to help with your withdrawal symptoms. The medication options available at this facility are buprenorphine, methadone, injectable depot naltrexone and oral naltrexone. The staff will help you decide which medication will best support your recovery.

In combination with your medication, you’ll receive counseling from licensed, caring professionals who will use evidence based therapeutic approaches. These approaches may include dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Developing a Recovery Oriented Lifestyle

The intensive and general outpatient services have been designed with the goal of leading yout to a recovery oriented lifestyle. The intensive outpatient program is four to six weeks, with multiple individual and group sessions at least nine hours a week.

These sessions will likely cover topics such as stress management, triggers, and understanding the origin of your addiction. Group sessions will provide you with a support system where you can share your experiences with recovery, receive encouragement, and gain insight from your peers.

As a part of developing a recovery oriented lifestyle, you can start to enjoy recreational activities that don’t involve using substances. With the facility located on Thames Street, you’re right in the heart of downtown Newport, where you can check out new restaurants and shops, or take a ride on the Block Island Ferry.
