About Cobb Recovery Center and Residential Services Administration Office

The Cobb Recovery Center in Marietta, Georgia was a substance abuse treatment center for children, youth, and adults. The center offered intensive outpatient programs, residential care for mothers, and transitional living for men, but it has now closed.

Outpatient Treatment and Services

A substance abuse assessment and nursing assessment determined the treatment plan for each patient. Patients were sometimes prescribed medications for withdrawals and cravings. The center had pharmacy services on site as well for clients’ convenience.

Counseling occurred individually, in groups, and with families. I like that families were included in the clients treatment and were assisted with referrals and references for healthcare and community support such as housing, food, or clothing.

Residential Referrals for Youth

If youth were determined to need residential treatment, they were referred to George W. Harmann Center. The program worked closely with the Marietta City School system to provide education for clients.

Specialized Treatment Programs for Moms

The center offered several programs which I found to be unique and beneficial. Mothers Making a Change collaborated with the Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services to provide specialized substance use treatment to pregnant women and mothers.

They also had a residential program for moms called Families Making a Change. This residential program for postpartum and pregnant women was funded by a grant. It offered substance use treatment Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and offered an after hours program. Residential monitoring was available 24 hours per day.

Men’s Transitional Housing and Treatment

A New Start Men’s Program was a 30 day transitional housing and drug treatment program for adult men. Requirements were that each client had been detoxed in a crisis stabilization unit within the last year.
