About Munson Healthcare Behavioral Health Services

Located in Traverse City, Michigan, Munson Medical Center is part of Munson Health, a medical and behavioral healthcare provider serving adults in northern Michigan. Munson Medical Center is a dual diagnosis mental health and drug and alcohol rehab facility offering intensive outpatient treatment for substance abuse, counseling, crisis stabilization, medication assisted treatment, partial hospitalization, aftercare support, community resources and referrals, and telehealth.

The Munson Medical Center is for individuals with drug and alcohol addiction, or with compulsive gambling problems, who would benefit from behavioral intervention and support, but do not require 24 hour supervision of a residential program or withdrawal management. The outpatient program is conveniently scheduled for three evenings per week, on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5.30 to 8.30 pm. Using a trauma informed and evidence based model of care, Munson Medical Center provides individual and group therapy, family counseling, skill development, peer support, and discharge planning. Therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, medication assisted treatment, and motivational interviewing. Each program varies in length depending on each individual; however, licensed clinicians will determine the most appropriate level of care following a comprehensive mental health assessment. Clinicians then work with program participants to help them identify recovery goals and monitor progress.

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is a highly effective and evidence based treatment, endorsed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, for the treatment of opioid use disorder MAT involves the use of certain medications, like methadone, in combination with behavioral counseling.

Munson Medical Center accepts Medicaid, Tricare, commercial insurance plans, and private pay. Other payment options, sliding scale payment assistance, and payment plans are also available.
