About Catholic Social Services

Catholic Social Services provides substance use disorder (SUD) services along with counseling for people in Iron Mountain, Michigan and throughout the Upper Peninsula. This facility treats adults as well as individuals with co occurring mental health issues, individuals that have experienced trauma, LGBTQ+ clients, and military personnel.

Iron Mountain is known for its outdoor attractions which include Iron Mountain City Park, the Menominee River, and Pine Mountain Ski Jump, all of which are ideal for green therapy.

An Emphasis on Faith

Because CSS is funded and operated by the Catholic Charities there is a faith component to treatment. While people aren’t forced to participate in the religious offerings, be aware that they will be promoted so this could be an excellent fit if you prefer a faith centered recovery.

Outpatient Support for Recovery

I like that CSS offers two outpatient programs. You can participate in the intensive outpatient program which is an immersive solution that requires multiple sessions per week. Or, traditional outpatient treatment meets less frequently if you only need a minimal amount of support.

All outpatient programs provide comprehensive counseling which includes not just individual and group counseling, but integrative support with an emphasis on faith. Core modalities include CBT, DBT, REBT, trauma related counseling, motivational interviewing, anger management and relapse prevention planning.

Aftercare Support

Getting sober is just one part of the recovery journey. CSS understands this, which is why they prioritize aftercare for people nearing completion of the program. Along with providing support towards accessing ongoing community services, CSS also prioritizes peer support, serving as a bridge for community programs.

While CSS is managed by the Catholic Charities, it does also accept insurance, TriCare and Medicare. Self pay fees are on a sliding scale based on demonstrated need.
