About Carson City Health and Human Services
Carson City Community Health Clinic in Carson City, Nevada, is the home of one of several Vitality Unlimited Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHC). Vitality programs include alcohol and drug treatment, detox programs and dual diagnosis treatment. Crisis care is available for the public 24 hours per day. They accept Medicare, TRICARE and Nevada Medicaid. A sliding fee scale based on total household income and size is available as well as single case agreements.
Programs that Address Substance Abuse
Their outpatient programs are designed for less severe substance use disorders and continuing care after residential treatment. The programs provide drug testing, intervention, evaluation/assessment, education, individual and group counseling and self-help meetings.
This facility offers family centered treatments and trauma focused treatments. Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are available that provide 53 hours of recovery individual and group sessions per week.
What stands out to me is that the facility also offers primary care and family medicine services, bilingual services, and a crisis hotline. Plus a Wellness Wednesday show airs on KELK in Elko that is led by Vitality’s coordinators.
Easy Access to Treatment and Housing
Transit stops at and near the facility provide a means of transportation to access treatment. A Vitality Mobile Therapy Van is available for home visits and offers services such as intakes, vitals, targeted case management and therapy appointments.
Online applications are available for residential drug and alcohol treatment, affordable housing, and transitional living housing. Affordable housing includes veteran housing, senior/disabled housing, multi-family unit housing and housing for the homeless. All housing assistance has eligibility requirements and are provided with some amenities.
Local Areas for Reflection
Carson City offers a variety of locations for reflection after completing a session at the center. Carson River Park allows dogs and has trails, fishing access, a picnic area and several areas for exercise. Memorial Point Scenic Overlook overlooks Lake Tahoe and large granite boulders along the shoreline. Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park offers beaches and picnic spots.
What Clients Are Saying
I found that among the facility aspects clients find helpful are activities to build responsibility and a warm and sharing group atmosphere. Former clients say the programs are simple but not easy, and they challenge you to be responsible, accountable and good members of society.
Levels of Care
For many, Nevada outpatient rehab is the next step after successfully completing an inpatient program. This less-restrictive treatment involves living at home and returning to life responsibilities while attending several treatment sessions each week. This continues for weeks or months, until you are ready to move to the next level of care.
When you choose Nevada dual diagnosis treatment, you’ll receive care from experts who specialize in each of your co-occurring disorders. This multidisciplinary approach effectively treats both your mental health and substance abuse disorders.
