About Capital Area Counseling Services
Capital Area Counseling Services is a treatment center located in Pierre, South Dakota. They provide treatment to adolescents and adults who are struggling with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. They provide intensive outpatient programs (IOP) along with services including assessments, early intervention, recovery management, family education, individual counseling and group therapy. To cover the costs of treatment, they offer financial assistance which will be determined on family size and household income.
An assessment will be completed by a licensed substance abuse counselor who can discuss what level of treatment is most appropriate for you. Topics that will be discussed include your strengths, weaknesses, what your expectations are of treatment, and what will be expected in treatment. This can provide more clarity on how treatment works and what you will be working toward. An individualized treatment plan will be created to help you move forward.
Individual counseling gives you a chance to discuss how things are going in treatment, what you are struggling with and other private information. Staff create a safe and comfortable setting for you to be vulnerable and open. They will use holistic therapies like moral reconation and dialectical behavior therapy. Moral reconation therapy can help improve problem solving, change unhealthy behaviors and boost moral reasoning. Dialectical behavior therapy can help with regulating heightened emotions. This can encourage positive views, change negative thinking patterns and help improve personal relationships.
Recovery management focuses on your wellness in different areas of your life like financial, emotional, environmental, social, mental and spiritual wellness. By discussing recovery and raising self awareness to harmful lifestyle choices, this can motivate you to take the appropriate steps forward. Relapse prevention, addiction education and developing a recovery plan will be some of the many areas you will work on. This can help you build a strong recovery foundation and motivate you to become more active in recovery.
