About Canopy Children’s Solution
Canopy Children's Solutions launched an Adolescent Substance Abuse Program in 2017, and is specifically for teens ages 12 to 17. It’s designed to intervene early to give teens the support they need before their substance use escalates.
This program is based at Canopy Behavioral Health Clinic in Jackson, Mississippi, with additional clinics in Gulfport and Hattiesburg. They accept Medicaid, private insurance and offer a sliding fee payment scale so families from all backgrounds can access care.
Setting Goals Beyond Substance Use
Their intensive outpatient clinic runs for 14 weeks and uses something called the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach, which basically helps kids figure out what they really want out of life and shows them how substance use is getting in the way of those goals. Group therapy with up to 10 kids, plus individual and family counseling sessions, teaches teens how to handle cravings and resist peer pressure around drugs and alcohol, which I think is really helpful.
Supportive Learning at Canopy School
Beyond substance use treatment, outpatient services for behavioral health include medication management, psychiatric services and crisis management. The Canopy School is fully accredited and kids with educational and behavioral needs can find a supportive learning environment tailored to their challenges.
Support for Families
Family support solutions here are designed to keep kids safe and connected to their families. They run advocacy centers for abuse victims, therapeutic foster care for kids with special needs and emergency shelters for abused and homeless youth.
