About Independent Health System — Family Services

In 2023, Butler Health System (BHS) became part of Independence Health System. The facility on North Washington Street in Butler, Pennsylvania is an outpatient specialty clinic providing family behavioral health services. The clinic accepts Medicare, Medicaid, military insurance such as TRICARE, and private health insurance.

Behavioral Health Care for the Whole Family in Beautiful Butler, Pennsylvania

Only 14 miles from Moraine State Park’s 16,000 forested acres, BHS Family Services offers behavioral health for children, teens, and adults. They focus on the positive goals of productive work, community contribution, and realizing a client’s full potential.

Although this specialty clinic doesn’t offer intensive substance use disorder treatment, they do have therapy support services for those impacted by their own or another’s substance use. I noticed that they can refer clients to more intensive substance use treatment programs on Hospital Way, only five minutes from the clinic.

Addressing Individual Needs With Specialized Therapies

There are other types of specialized therapies at the clinic. One of the programs I like is the adolescent after school program serving adolescents in grades 7-12. The group is for kids with inappropriate behavior and poor social skills who have difficulty integrating into the community.

They also have children’s summer intensive outpatient programs, trauma focused therapy, and play therapy. They have medication management for any clients who need it.
