About Bradford Health Services

Near the Shelby County Airport south of Alabaster, Alabama, you could once find an outpatient office where the Bradford Health Services (BHS) group provided substance use disorder services. As an organization, BHS continues to offer a full continuum of addiction treatment services, from detoxification to aftercare, across their various facilities and campuses. However, the Alabaster office is now closed.

Outpatient Programs for Adolescents and Adults

One of this office’s unique features was that it offered an outpatient detoxification service. This type of service usually gives individuals the necessary support and supervision required to help them through the initial steps of their recovery journeys while still allowing them to go home to tend to other responsibilities and be with their families.

Beyond this, they offered intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for adolescents and adults. These programs served either as a next step after detoxification for those who didn’t need residential treatment or as a continuation of care for those coming out of residential programs.

For those receiving outpatient treatment here, the office was close to several interesting and unique recreational facilities, which could be used to relieve stress and enjoy time outdoors. I like that these included the Central Alabama Paintball Park, Veterans Park, and the Ebenezer Swamp Ecological Preserve.

Bradford Health’s Other Services

As an organization, BHS is still active at many other locations where they offer inpatient detox, inpatient rehab, IOPs, standard outpatient treatment, and aftercare. I noticed that their services also include medication assisted treatment and telehealth services at locations in Alabama and other states.
