About Behavioral Health Services Inc

Behavioral Health Services Inc. (BHS) is a nonprofit agency that provides a host of mental health and addiction recovery services from 22 locations spread around Los Angeles County. In Gardena, California, you’ll find their home office (just up the road from the El Camino Community College).

The Gardena office serves as the administrative hub for all their facilities, and can be the connection point you need to find helpful services. As a nonprofit, they are funded by donations and government grants, allowing them to keep costs low and extend a measure of financial assistance to persons in need.

Access to a Full Continuum of Care

If you’re struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol, they can refer you to a facility that can meet your needs at any stage of recovery. I noticed their network has two inpatient medical detox facilities and five residential rehab facilities where you can receive three to six months of intensive treatment for drug or alcohol addiction.

They also offer access to several facilities with intensive and standard outpatient treatment programs. These programs focus on helping you develop the skills to grow more independent overtime and on relapse prevention. They do this by helping you implement the tools you learn in their inpatient and outpatient settings to your daily life.

Helping You Regain Independence

What I like about BHS’s programming is that it’s designed to help you break free from addiction and develop the tools and confidence you need to live in freedom. One very practical way they accomplish this is by providing DUI services that are compliant with the California Department of Health Care Services and Los Angeles County’s legal requirements. They also offer medication assisted treatment within this program (and most of their others) to help individuals facing severe withdrawal symptoms or who are at great risk of relapse.
