About Bethany Christian Services
Bethany Christian Services is a family services and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facility that provides care for adults and adolescents across a wide range of needs. This location in Grand Rapids, Michigan has a variety of services including an adolescent residential program and outpatient counseling for families affected by addiction.
In particular BCS prioritizes therapeutic relationships and the importance of family support especially for vulnerable populations like pregnant and postpartum women. I was glad to see that they serve people in the community who are most in need.
This is complemented by the local attractions such as Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Riverside Park, the John Ball Zoo, and Grand River which provide holistic positive environments you can enjoy after you complete outpatient sessions.
Outpatient Support
For adults struggling with addiction, this facility offers an outpatient program which can include counseling and other services as necessary. Within this program, dual diagnosis care is also available for those where underlying mental illness may have contributed to their addiction.
Residential Adolescent Program
The adolescent program at BCS is designed for teen boys between the ages of 12 to 17 and is actually designed to tackle sexual behavior problems including those in boys who also have SUD. Because of the targeted age range, there is a fully functioning academic program here that meets Michigan state education standards.
Along with the educational curriculum, students also participate in ongoing counseling which relies on a trauma informed care approach to help uncover why a child was acting out and how to help them retrain their minds.
I think it’s important to note that because of the targeted issue for this program, there is heightened surveillance to ensure the safety of all participants.
BCS accepts private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare, Tricare, and even state funding. While you can opt for self payment options, there is also a sliding fee scale based on demonstrated need.
Amenities
Private drug rehab provides a comfortable, secure environment that allows you to focus on doing the work to get your life back on track. Benefits include a higher staff-to-client ratio, increased one-on-one time with therapists and healthcare providers, private rooms for clients, and customized forms of therapy.
Recreational therapy uniquely combines therapeutic interventions with an activity, like horse-riding, hiking, wilderness therapy, basketball, tennis, or a full workout. Benefits of recreational therapy include providing a healthy way to work through the emotions of recovery, learning to build and maintain relationships, improving communication skills, and building self-esteem.
Yoga and meditation are great activities to support your recovery process during alcohol or drug rehab. These therapies have been around for centuries, and they are an effective way to improve well-being. Combining addiction treatment, yoga, and meditation can reduce cravings, improve sleep, relieve anxiety and depression, provide stress relief, promote relaxation, support emotional healing, and improve energy levels.
