About Bayou Oaks Health Services

Bayou Oaks Health Services is a CARF accredited outpatient mental health clinic in Thibodaux, Louisiana. While they are focused on helping clients with emotional and behavioral challenges, they do evaluate clients with addiction treatment needs and make referrals to ongoing treatment through the Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership.

Some of their services can benefit those in SUD treatment, however, especially those with a co occurring disorder. Even if they refer you to another facility for substance abuse care, you can still augment your treatment with these additional services. Payment wise, they work with clients who are insured with Medicaid.

Building Social Skills

One service they provide that may be of interest to you is cultivating and improving the social skills of clients. Mental illnesses like anxiety and depression can hinder one’s ability to connect with others healthily, but the same is true for those with addiction. The harm caused by substance abuse often leads to a decline in relationships and communication.

Programs like this will take a close look at your skills to see where you might be lacking. What’s great is that the office provides a safe, controlled, and judgment free space for your practice as needed. You’ll get plenty of assistance and real world practice to bring your abilities to where you want them to be.

Support for Parents

Similarly, those who are parents struggling with drug or alcohol misuse can benefit from parenting skills development sessions. This program can assist in repairing family relationships harmed by SUD and provide great advice in general. It can be an excellent aid for any parent experiencing difficulties, with or without addiction.

Play Therapy for All

A unique offering from this location that I find intriguing is their play therapy for all ages. Typically, this method is used to help children communicate difficult subjects or things they can’t fully articulate. Here, they allow anyone to use this tried and tested tool regardless of age.
