About The Barry Robinson Center
On the border of Virginia Beach and Norfolk, you’ll find The Barry Robinson Center. They provide treatment and schooling for military-connected children and youth who are experiencing behavioral difficulties, including addictions. Being with other youth who’ve experienced similar situations can help them find acceptance and develop healthy social interactions.
The center allows residents to continue their schooling in an open campus environment while receiving medication management and various therapies to help them work through what they’re struggling with. They have access to qualified, compassionate doctors, nurses, therapists, counselors, teachers, and dietitians.
Each resident is assessed and follows an individual treatment plan, including one-on-one, group, and family counseling. Recreational therapy offers sports, rock climbing, equine assisted learning, and Scouts. Art therapy gives them an opportunity for creative expression through painting, or they can join a choir. The resident therapy dog is always available for pet therapy sessions.
They are a TRICARE approved facility and work with most major health insurers. They are approved for North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia Medicaid.
