About Avita Community Partners Behavioral Health
Avita Community Partners Stephens County Behavioral Health Services was formerly known as Georgia Mountains Community Services and was created in 1993. The organization serves clients with addiction, co-occurring mental health disorders and developmental disabilities. The Stephens County location is on Fernside Drive in Toccoa, Georgia, about five miles from the beautiful Toccoa Falls. The center accepts Medicaid and other state financed health insurance as well as Community Service Block Grants and local government funds.
Two Treatment Models in Northeast Georgia
Their substance use disorder (SUD) service uses two models of treatment. The Recovery Model treats clients as having potential for growth and healing and should be active participants in their treatment through the identification of their needs, wants and goals. The Episodes of Treatment Model states that a client’s needs vary over time and that clients can come and go from treatment as needed. I think the Episodes of Treatment Model is interesting because it allows clients to use the services when they need them but not feel like they have to be in treatment all the time.
Avita’s addiction services include medical treatment, psychoeducational counseling and classes, rehabilitation and community support and employment support. Medical treatment includes medication management, nursing care and treatment by a physician. Counseling includes short term group, family and individual counseling.
Mental Health Services in Toccoa
Some clients need mental health treatment without addiction treatment. For those clients, they offer counseling, psychoeducational classes, rehabilitation and community support. The mental health programs are based on the same models of treatment as the SUD treatment.
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Program
One of the services I appreciate is their intellectual and developmental disability program. The program’s goal is to help adults with disabilities live vibrant lives as independently as they can. They help clients with community, social and personal support related to self care for those who live independently. They also help some clients find a living situation with a host family. Medical and employment support are also available.
Amenities
Private drug rehab provides a comfortable, secure environment that allows you to focus on doing the work to get your life back on track. Benefits include a higher staff-to-client ratio, increased one-on-one time with therapists and healthcare providers, private rooms for clients, and customized forms of therapy.
Residential drug rehab provides the comforts of home with the therapeutic support needed to successfully recover. Benefits of an inpatient program include increased safety, a higher success rate, and the time and distance given to focus on recovery. Residential drug rehabs are often the preferred method of treatment, as they can be tailored to meet specific needs, offer focused therapeutic care, and provide the necessary tools to sustain recovery.
In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.
