About Atlanta Mission The Shepherd’s Inn

The Shepherd’s Inn provides safe sober accommodations for men in recovery, particularly men who are homeless. They serve about 450 men daily guiding them toward a responsible and independent lifestyle. Residents benefit from a supportive community of peers and staff members that encourages and holds them accountable when necessary. The facility offers comfortable sleeping space, well prepared meals and laundry among others. This facility is part of the Atlanta Mission and is situated in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The facility is just a stone's throw from Centennial Olympic Park.

Recovery Through Community

The Shepherd’s Inn serves the recovery needs of single men over 18 seeking a structured and community-oriented space to build independent life skills that support sobriety. You must have undergone detox and have had at least three days since your last drug use or two days since your last alcohol use. You must also be healthy and willing to participate in the full program activities while adhering to the guidelines.

Therapy here is delivered primarily in small group settings encompassing clinical and process groups. This fosters peer support, shared experiences and deeper personal growth. You’ll also attend individual counseling to address personal challenges with the support of your assigned therapist. Additionally, they offer life skills classes and vocational training to help you build independence, find employment and navigate daily responsibilities. The program even incorporates spiritual elements to help you connect with a higher being and find peace, purpose and balance in recovery.

You’ll work with the staff to create a custom 90-day goal to guide your recovery while living onsite. The staff members will meet with you at least biweekly to assess progress and make adjustments to the goals if necessary. You may receive extended time to help you work on income and housing upon meeting your goals. They may also extend your stay if you fail to realize your goals after 90 days if you need it, as long as you’re making a genuine effort. The staff members will link you to essential social services within the community that foster independent living as you graduate. This may encompass medical care, transportation services and employment services.
