About Astor Services New Paltz Counseling Center – Closed
Astor Counseling Center in New Paltz, New York, offered treatment for children and adolescents ages two to 21. The outpatient center was licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, certified by The Joint Commission and contracted by Dutchess and Ulster counties to provide treatment for youth. The center is now closed.
The center accepted Medicaid, other insurances, and self payments. The child or youth was eligible for services if they had mental health issues that interfered with the child’s life, their family’s lives, or the community.
Substance Use Screening and Referral
You could walk into the clinic for an intake appointment from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The center offered screenings for health and substance abuse. If it was determined through screening that you needed treatment for substance use, the clinic referred you to a local facility.
Crisis and Stabilization Services
If you or a loved one were in crisis and needed immediate assistance, you could go into the center for urgent care. The center stabilized people in crisis and made referrals for immediate or follow up treatment. I like that they offered psychiatric treatment and medication management. In milder scenarios, the center treated you or your loved one.
Specialized Treatment for Co-occurring Disorder
Specialized treatment programs were available for sexual harm, parent child interaction, and co-occurring disorders. If you were diagnosed with a co-occurring disorder, you were likely prescribed medication and had regular psychiatric appointments.
Mending Broken Families
Even though the New Paltz center is closed, Astor has other facilities in its network. We know that substance use disorder can cause a lot of disruptions in the addict’s life. Families Together group therapy can help mend the relationships in your family and strengthen family bonds.
If your family was experiencing issues such as custodial legalities, the Astor will advocate for you. We can assure you that parents in counseling and therapy and are actively seeking help are looked on more favorably by the judicial system.
