About Trellus
Trellus is a nonprofit organization that works in collaboration with local and state governmental organizations to provide access to critical social services for refugee and immigrant communities in Chicago, Illinois. They used to be called the Asian Human Services.
While this organization does provide behavioral health care services, that is just part of what they do. This organization also works to provide medical care, connect individuals with critical social services and help to get this vulnerable population stabilized and independent in their new community.
Chicago is a world class city that is known for its rich cultural diversity as well as history and recreational features. From countless parks across the city to museums, and even a robust transit system, the city is easy to navigate and understand. I saw that the Mather (Stephen Tyng) Park is right across the street.
Comprehensive Behavioral Health Care
Trellus provides a wide range of behavioral health services with most being designed to help people manage the difficult experience of adjusting to a new and unfamiliar place. This can include counseling services and connecting with peer support groups as needed.
Additionally, substance use disorder treatment is a component, but people with more severe addiction who need more serious interventions will typically be referred to other community resources.
Helping You Feel Connected
Trellus’ priority is to help newly immigrated individuals settle into their new home. This can include providing access to workforce support, helping people navigate enrolling into social services, and even offering education through their companion Passages Charter School. This organization also serves as an advocacy group to help refugees and immigrants.
Trellus is a nonprofit and may receive grants from government sources to support the work they do. For fee schedules, supported insurance, or payment options (if any), speak with a case manager. I love that they offer services in Spanish, Mandarin, Khmer, Cantonese, Arabic, and Tagalog. They also teach English to non-native speakers.

An Illinois dual diagnosis program treats both your mental health and recovery needs. Psychiatrists and addiction specialists work together to address co-occurring disorders, such as depression, anxiety, or ADHD.
