About ASAC Area Substance Abuse Council Heart of Iowa
ASAC Area Substance Abuse Council Heart of Iowa is located in Cedar Rapids. This is a drug recovery facility that serves women, pregnant women, and mothers who are navigating their substance use recovery program. Children can live with their mothers here. Care is offered in a residential treatment setting. You’ll live in supportive housing on the campus as you move through your recovery program.
The Heart of Iowa allows you to navigate recovery with a supportive team of professionals and other peers. If your circumstances require it, you’ll undergo an assessment where your recovery struggles and treatment needs will be identified.
With individual and group counseling, you’ll learn critical coping skills and strategies that will help you on your path to recovery. You'll learn how to identify triggers that lead to addiction use and how to manage negative thoughts and emotions. In group settings, you'll have other peers that you can lean on for emotional and moral support.
If your treatment plan includes medication assisted treatment (MAT), you will continue receiving these services here. You’ll partner with experienced counselors who will connect you with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff if needed.
As you progress through the treatment, you'll create realistic recovery goals. A plan of action to meet these goals will also be created for you as well.
Life skills development is a critical part of the recovery program here as well. You'll learn how to work collaboratively and develop skills that can help you obtain gainful employment and pursue a successful lifestyle when you leave the treatment program.
