About Army Substance Abuse Program ASAP
The Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is located in the US Army installation of Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, Hawaii, and is designed to support those with substance use disorder. ASAP offers its services for free, so this is a great option for those without the means to pay for private care, facing financial troubles, or without insurance.
Despite being based on an Army installation, services are not only available to current service members and soldiers, but also civilians, veterans, retirees, and their families. However, with their emphasis on how substance abuse affects the military community, their services do offer a more targeted and specialized angle.
Treatment at ASAP includes risk reduction, addiction prevention education, military and civilian drug testing programs, and employee assistance programs. If you’re seeking clinical care, the Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care is the Army’s latest answer to integrated behavioral health and substance abuse care.
Their multifaceted addiction prevention program provides important training and education, while the EAP is designed to support civilians in holding onto work, keeping up job performance, or seeking employment while going through addiction recovery.
Other non-employment related assistance the program provides includes family, marital, and interpersonal relationship support, anger and stress management programs, as well as financial and legal support services. This is held in tandem with ASAP’s risk reduction program, which supports individuals in lessening high risk behaviors such as drug and alcohol offenses, self harm, criminal practices, and suicide attempts.
