About Area Youth Shelter Inc.

The nonprofit Area Youth Shelter in Ada, Oklahoma, is one of the more unique substance use disorder and mental health treatment facilities in the area. They offer these services to people between the ages of four and 99, but they also double as a youth shelter. This enables them to support vulnerable teens and children from unstable living situations.

In addition to these services, they offer supervisory visitations and programs for individuals involved in the legal system.

They accept a variety of insurance plans so they don't have to turn someone away seeking help.

Recovery in Nature

Ada has an abundance of nature sites that are great to visit after a treatment session or to just spend some time. Among their many parks is Wintersmith Park, which covers 150 acres. With that much space, you're sure to find a spot you love and can include in your sobriety.

Help for the Justice Involved

Something I want to draw your attention to is the Community At Risk Services program for juveniles in custody. Through a partnership with the Office of Juvenile Affairs, this program provides education, treatment and mentoring to help youth remain in their home and return to their lives post custody.

A separate program for first time offenders serves a similar purpose with the aim of preventing future offenses. Whether a youth's involvement with the legal system is related to substance abuse or not, these programs are a great opportunity to address and change dangerous behaviors early on.

Your Recovery Doesn't End Here

Something else I find appealing about this clinic is its aftercare efforts. Leaving treatment can be an anxious and dreadful experience, especially if you don't know what it is you should be doing next. But the staff here are on your side. Through discharge planning, they'll help you develop a roadmap based on your progress and any concerns you may have.

I think it's also worth noting that they will make referrals to other programs when they aren't able to help you themselves. So even when they don't have a program suited for you, they're still lending a hand toward your addiction recovery.
