About Arden Shore Child and Family Services

Waukegan, Illinois is located on the coast of Lake Michigan and is home to the Naval Station Great Lakes, the only training facility for the Navy’s enlisted sailors. Waukegan is also where you’ll find Arden Shore Child and Family Services, which provides behavioral health treatment, family preservation services and foster care placement.

Services are available in both English and Spanish. Arden Shore accepts Medicaid programs issued by BlueCross Blue Shield, Aetna, Molina Health, Meridian and Youthcare.

Treatment for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders

Until 2014, Arden Shore worked with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services to help troubled youth and families where the child’s well being and safety was at risk.

Starting in 2014, they added a Behavioral Health and Support Services department, allowing them to provide care to Medicaid clients as well as DCFS clients. In 2015, they began offering substance use disorder treatment.

Treatment for mental health and substance use involves evidence based individual, family and group counseling. For addiction treatment, they also provide substance use education, help clients identify use triggers, and work with clients to create relapse prevention strategies.

The ultimate goal of treatment at Arden Shore is to aid members of the community in being healthy, happy and productive, and to help families be safe, stable environments for children to grow up.

Family Preservation Services

Another important part of Arden Shore’s services is their Intact Family Preservation program. This program recognizes when children are at risk of abuse or neglect and provides treatment and intervention to help improve the situation.

These services might include crisis support, individual and family therapy, parenting education, anger management classes, in home services, case management and more.

By helping parents improve the home environment, Arden Shore hopes to reduce out of home placements while still keeping youth safe and secure.
