About Arbour Counseling Services of Lawrence
Arbour Counseling Services had a substance use disorder treatment facility in Lawrence, Massachusetts, that is now permanently closed. The facility provided medication assisted treatment, DUI education programs, and other outpatient services. The town of Lawrence is not far from the New Hampshire border and Boston, Massachusetts. Clients could enjoy activities such as shopping at Canal Street Antique Mall or walking around Spicket River Greenway.
The two medications that Arbour Counseling Services used for their Medication Assisted Treatment program are Suboxone and Vivitrol. Both are effective at helping to minimize your cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Staff members would follow specific guidelines for maintenance and stabilization to ensure clients received the right dosage for their needs.
One thing I noticed was that the facility allowed you to begin a tapering schedule at any point during your maintenance phase of treatment. The physician would work with you to determine the tapering rate, and if withdrawal symptoms or cravings start returning, the tapering could be stopped.
In the intensive outpatient program, you’d receive case management, counseling, and other support services. The program lasts about four to six weeks and would help you with recovery maintenance and positive reintegration into society.
One of the services they used to provide that stood out the most to me was their programs for individuals with DUI offenses. The Massachusetts Impaired Driving program was a 16 week treatment program that helped to raise self awareness and encourage behavioral changes in clients to decrease the risk for recidivism.
Clients who’ve been convicted of a DUI for a second time could participate in the Second Offender Aftercare Program. It was a year long treatment that was completed through individual or group counseling sessions. The program would address problems linked to drug and alcohol misuse and focus on topics such as impulse control and healthy decision making.

Levels of Care
Massachusetts outpatient rehab does not have a defined timeline. The program is tailored to meet your recovery needs, and may last 90 days or a year or more. During this time, you will attend therapy sessions and support group meetings, for ongoing accountability and development of sober-living skills.
Aftercare rehab in Massachusetts gives you continued access to support after rehab. You may need assistance with job coaching, budgeting, education, or accountability as you re-enter your life. Aftercare programs provide these supports, so you can face challenges and maintain a sober lifestyle long-term.
If you meet the diagnostic criteria for two or more conditions, you have a dual diagnosis. Massachusetts dual diagnosis treatment is designed to address both conditions simultaneously, for improved recovery outcomes.
