About Acc Mental Health

America’s Community Council (ACC) has provided services for minority, immigrant and multicultural populations in Michigan since 1979. Their outpatient clinic at West Seven Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan provides outpatient treatment for mental health, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. They also have a youth program at this center.

ACC has culturally sensitive care for the Arab American and Chaldean populations, as well as serving the Detroit community at large. The clinic accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance.

Helpful Outpatient Treatment Services in Wayne County

I like that the treatment services at this clinic are complemented by social services such as advocacy, community outreach, and case management. Mental health and addiction treatment include individual, group and family counseling services using evidence based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Clients will learn how to manage their stress without using substances.

Mental illnesses can sometimes be a cause of addiction. The clinic also offers integrated care for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The program can treat voluntary clients as well as those with court ordered treatment plans.

Beyond therapy ACC facilitates nutrition counseling, supported employment, and vocational rehabilitation. They can also link you to peer support and recovery groups.

The ACC Youth Program in Detroit

The Youth Program at this center offers young people a safe and productive place to spend time outside of school. The clinic serves youth ages nine to 17 and allows them to learn life skills and improve their academics.

Clients can receive tutoring, computer skills training, and substance use prevention services. Other things I noticed the clinic offered were a travel basketball program available and weekly field trips.

Levels of Care

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab in Michigan is tailored to each person’s recovery journey. This treatment usually involves several hours of therapy sessions each week, along with attendance at support group meetings. However, the timeline varies from a few weeks, to months, to years, based on your needs.

Dual Diagnosis & Mental Health

A dual diagnosis treatment center in Michigan allows you to get treatment for substance abuse and mental health disorders at the same time. This is critical, because untreated mental health disorders often lead to relapse and poor recovery outcomes.
