About Anka Ventura Crisis Residential Treatment

Anka Ventura Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) center in Ventura, California was a short term residential program for clients in crisis from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. They’re closed now, but the goal of the center was to reduce the number of emergency room visits and hospitalizations due to mental health.

The center accepted adults ages 18 to 59 years old. Treatment lasted seven to 10 days. Medication management was available to clients through medication assisted treatment (MAT). Clients participated in group and individual psychotherapy, group activities and outings, and relapse prevention and coping skills training.

Clients received peer support from others in recovery who coached the client through community reintegration. Substance abuse prevention education and identification of each client’s support system prepared clients for release from treatment.

Referrals for Continued Care

After completion of crisis treatment, clients were referred to another treatment program. Staff were able to determine if clients needed residential treatment or could benefit more from intensive outpatient treatment.

The center provided integrated care with person centered treatment. Their facility was set up to have a “home like” feel so that clients felt comfortable and accepted there. Recovery and resiliency were achievable in this short stay clinic.
