About Allen House

Allen House is a residential substance use treatment program for adults that focuses on healing and prevention. The program typically lasts one to three months, and also includes care for co-occurring disorders like mental health conditions. They are part of the Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (L.A. CADA) system and are located in Santa Fe Springs, California.

Part of a Wide Network of Care

Allen House is one of several treatment facilities in their L.A. CADA network that includes outpatient, intensive outpatient and residential programs for adults. I was glad to see that outpatient care for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 is also provided within their network.

They work with most private insurance companies and if you have Medi-Cal or Cal-WORKS, they may have funding to help you. They also consider what folks can afford to pay, and some services are offered free of charge. I think it’s helpful that programs are available for Spanish speaking individuals, and their network is LGBTQ+ and HIV+ friendly.

A Balanced Approach to Recovery

If you do not require hospital based detox, they offer a withdrawal management program with 24/7 care in a secure environment. Clients are taught about the importance of good nutrition and conflict resolution skills, and sober activities are offered for balance.

Clients are encouraged to stay active and make recreational and physical activities a regular part of their routine as they make changes in their lives. The facility feels like home, and they help clients build independence by providing job training and education.

Ongoing Support After Treatment

Support after discharge plays a critical role in recovery. They’ll help you build a support network beyond discharge, and family counseling and education are included in your treatment plan to keep loved ones involved in the recovery process. I noticed that they also provide intensive outpatient treatment here after you’ve completed the residential phase.
