About Lafayette VA Clinic

Alexandria VA Health Care System Lafayette CBOC provides substance use disorder counseling and treatment for Veterans and their adult families in the Lafayette, Louisiana area. This program supports those who have served in our military at a low cost, often the same day, when urgently needed.

Mental Health Care Tailored to Veterans

I like that this facility will help you get the counseling you need for substance use disorder and any co-occurring mental health issues that you may be dealing with or that may be causing your substance use. This could be from post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety or depression. I think it’s important to note that outpatient services can be offered here, but if you require inpatient treatment or medical detox, you may be transferred to another location.

Integrating Addiction Treatment with Medical Care

At this facility, they offer a number of healthcare services so they can smoothly integrate your medical care with your addiction treatment. This includes dental services, optometry services and laboratory and pathology services as well as physical and occupational therapies and primary care including mental health. I appreciate that they also offer women’s care, radiology, and prosthetics and rehab services. For many of these services, you can participate in telehealth on the phone or through video.

Several former and present clients have said that the staff is great and understanding here, but communication is not always easy, as sometimes it is hard to get a call answered.

Addiction Recovery in Lafayette

Wondering what to do before or after your visit in Lafayette? They have 18 parks to choose from, as well as numerous walking and historical tours, over a dozen art galleries and three history museums. I think that there is definitely fun to be had here.
