About VA MH Annex

Upon arriving at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Saginaw Healthcare Annex, you’ll see that they'll assist in tackling mental and behavioral health conditions via outpatient care. They’re based in Saginaw, Michigan.

I like that they are inclusive to special populations such as veterans, active duty military, patients who have experienced trauma or PTSD, the LGBTQ+ community, those with traumatic brain injury (TBI), persons with eating disorders, and persons with serious mental illnesses. They have a special track for the unhoused.

A Warm Welcome to all

The center offers outpatient services for detox treatment, including alcohol and opioid detoxification. They believe in treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders through a coordinated approach.

I think it’s important that their program includes so many treatment options such as: activity therapy, behavior modification, cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and rational behavior therapy (RBT) This center provides care and counseling to over 40,000 local Veterans.

Emphasizing a Well Rounded Approach to Reach Your Goals

The center emphasizes a holistic approach that includes addressing mental, physical, and spiritual health. The center’s location in Saginaw offers various parks like Haithco Lake and different community resources that may be integrated into outpatient recovery programs. I was impressed with their social services that can come to your home or assist with transportation and community integration.

I like that there’s patient family and couples counseling, individual psychotherapy, motivational interviewing and trauma-related counseling. In addition, they include life skills training, such as time management, money management and assistance with finding work.

The center accepts private health insurance, VA funding, and military insurance. They have self payment options.
