About AJI Counseling
AJI Counseling is an outpatient facility in Coeur D'alene, Idaho. They specialize in substance use treatment, prevention, and education. They offer substance abuse education commonly used for first time DUI cases, Alcohol Drug Information School (ADIS) and Victim Impact Panel (VIP). The latter features Martin Lockett’s story and ACT Class. AJI Counseling is located in a relatively walkable and highly bikeable area, including the N. Idaho Centennial Trail.
The location is easy to access with private and public transportation. This includes the Citylink Transit’s routes A, B and C operated by Kootenai County. The nearest bus stop is roughly an 8 minute walk from the facility. The facility offers onsite parking for those visiting with private cars. The classes are mostly online though. So visiting the facility might not be necessary.
AJI Counseling mainly serves individuals involved with the criminal justice system, but they also contract with agencies to provide counseling in group and individual settings. ADIS is an educational program that is typically used in first-time DUI offenses. It can also be a preventative measure for other misdemeanor drug or alcohol offenses.
You needn’t be an offender to participate in this program. Anyone seeking to learn about the effects of substance use on their lives, health and communities can attend the program. It covers substance use education, legal consequences, personal responsibility and risk awareness. The goal is to promote healthier decisions and prevent future substance related offenses.
AJI Counseling offers both 8, 16 and 32 hours of ADIS to meet different needs. They even offer specialized Spanish versions targeting the Hispanic community. Classes are also available for youths aged 12 to 18.
VIP is an awareness-focused program mandated by the court to educate DUI offenders about the real-life consequences of substance use. This panel involves presentations by people directly affected by substance impaired driving. This includes victims, survivors and offenders. The main purpose of the VIP is to humanize the impact of impaired driving, foster accountability and encourage smart decision making.
AJI Counseling’s 12 hours ACT class combines ADIS and VIP courses. This can be suitable if you’re seeking a detailed approach to understanding the impact of substance use and making positive changes. You may also be mandated to take this combo by the court.
The facility awards a certificate of completion once you complete any of their programs. AJI Counseling operates with the aid of State of Idaho Prevention grants through the Idaho Dept of Drug Policy.
