About AIDS Alabama – LIBCAP

AIDS Alabama has its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. Their Living in Balance Chemical Addiction (LIBCAP) program is an intensive outpatient program for drug or alcohol addiction. The organization also provides housing, advocacy and support services as well as confidential HIV and STI testing for the community. They also provide various housing options including emergency and supportive housing, homelessness housing, mortgage assistance and utility assistance. AIDS Alabama can also help with employment and benefits, drug and alcohol abuse and physical health.

Their LIBCAP program offers a range of drug and alcohol addiction services for people who have HIV and qualify as low income. You’ll get access to individual, group and family counseling from trained addiction counselors. Clients also get drug screening, jobs and education assistance, HIV education and psychiatric assessment.

They also offer case management services. Your case manager will work on your behalf to get you the support and resources you need to improve your health and wellness. This may include connecting you to community resources, getting medical access and advocating for your needs.

To qualify for this program you’ll need to be referred by your provider. LIBCAP often has a waiting list to admit new clients. There is also a list of items you’ll need to provide to register. You’ll need a current substance abuse assessment that has been completed within the past three months.
