About Affordable Recovery Housing
Affordable Recovery Housing is a sober living environment for men and women in Blue Island and Park Forest in Illinois. Located on the south side of Chicago, their vision is to impact the lives of people who were in recovery for drug and alcohol addiction.
Foundation for Independent Living
They provide assistance not only in a sober living home, but also in establishing a foundation for independent living with employment training and long-term job placement. The strategy is to establish a home for individuals who want to recover from addiction by creating opportunities to overcome that addiction.
This includes developing training skills, building strong relationships, and remaining clean and sober. Admission is based on your commitment to be abstinent from all drugs and alcohol, attending all required meetings and groups, and completing all assignments that were assigned by the staff.
The sober living program is three to six months long during which you have access to several groups and other support services. They provide several support services, including case management, off-site counselors, and onsite recovery coaching and support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, recovery education, and life skills.
Employment Training Provided
Employment training includes learning skills in construction through on the job training and workshops to find established jobs and working with the organization to rehabilitate homes. They also work with staffing agencies to hire individuals regardless of the person's background.
They provide transportation to and from your employment. There are two men in a bedroom with a free phone for local and long-distance calling, cable television, utilities, and cleaning supplies. There’s an open food pantry and three meals each day.
