Advanced Counseling and Educational Center

Advanced Counseling and Education Center is an outpatient behavioral health facility that provides counseling and educational services for people struggling with substance use disorders that is located in Livingston, Texas. 

They treat both adolescents and adults and especially those who may be facing legal action as a result of a SUD such as DWI or DUI offenses. Preventative education, as well as anger management and court ordered care are all offered here. 

I found that this facility is located in downtown Livingston and is near several recreational spaces. For nature therapy, consider visiting Pedigo Park or Matthews Street Park. Meanwhile, Lake Livingston is another popular attraction that’s ideal for nature based reflection.

Although you don’t have to be court referred to access services at ACEC, it’s known for providing court ordered services. This can include educational programs and relapse prevention strategies to help you maintain your sobriety. Note that you can also voluntarily participate in the programs offered here.

I appreciate that ACEC understands sobriety is a journey that needs support, which is why this facility offers programming that focuses on providing support to loved ones as well. Addiction doesn’t just impact the person with the SUD, but can infiltrate their entire support network. Similar to the person enrolled in the program, family members can access counseling sessions.

Another key feature of this program is an emphasis on anger management and building better coping skills. This all underscores the relapse prevention strategy which focuses on helping you build the tools you need to maintain your sobriety when the program is completed.
