About Bob Testen – A Life’s Journey Counseling

A Life’s Journey Counseling Center located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina was founded by Bob Testen in 2005 to provide psychotherapy to those who are looking to set goals and tackle challenges they’re facing. Services are offered to individuals fifteen and older, and all genders and sexual orientations are welcome. Teletherapy is also an option to make care more accessible.

Addressing Mental Health Challenges

Mental health disorders can sometimes be one of the primary causes of substance use. I like that this facility offers treatment for mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders and panic attacks.

Through dual diagnosis care, your counselor will focus on treating your mental health disorder and substance use disorder at the same time. Staff members can also address relationship difficulties you may be experiencing that could be influencing your addiction. The types of counseling available include individual, family, group and couples counseling.

Group counseling can provide support and encouragement that can help you stay motivated in your recovery. You can also gain helpful insights from your peers.

A Personal Approach to Treatment

Bob Testen believes in incorporating treatment techniques that are dependent on the individual, while using a family systems approach. He uses a mixture of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT can help you with changing negative thoughts that contribute to your use of substances.

I noticed that A Life’s Journey Counseling Center is conveniently located just off of highway 501. In between your treatment sessions, you can visit the North Carolina Botanical Garden to take time to relax and reflect on your recovery.

This less restrictive treatment involves several hours of therapy per week, and accountability through 12-step meetings such as AA.
