About Families First

Families First is a nonprofit social service agency for adults. You’ll find their headquarters based in Atlanta, Georgia.

This organization focuses on providing family services, behavioral health, counseling and parenting support. Atlanta is known as the City in a Forest, home to Coca-Cola and one of the major birthplaces of the Civil Rights movement.

Headquarters Location Coordinates Care

This is the Families First headquarters, located on the Westside and serving as the administrative offices for the organization. They’ve been serving Atlanta since 1890. Over the decades, the agency has evolved in response to the state's changing needs. This includes 13 name changes and several mergers.

Behavioral Health Services

The Vance Center for Behavioral Health offers assistance to families, children and young adults to cope with challenging life events and behaviors. Their focus is on building resilience within families who have experienced trauma.

While they don’t offer a structured substance use disorder treatment program, these services use evidence based tools to support your mental health and your progress through recovery. I noticed that they provide holistic treatment for groups, individuals, families and couples.

Parenting Support Reduces Family Trauma

Families First also provides parenting and adoption support services that can offer parenting support to reduce trauma within the family. I’m impressed with Navigators. This is an intensive and personalized case management program that helps connect you with community resources. These are also stressors that can trigger relapse, such as meeting basic needs of food, clothing and housing.

Other services include connections with employment, education services, legal services, domestic abuse resources and financial advice.
