Nebraska has a growing problem with is residents abusing drugs such as Methamphetamine and other stimulants. One third of the states treatment admissions were for these types of stimulant drugs. Another third was for Marijuana and the remaining various types of drugs and alcohol. All together Nebraska had 15,729 people enter into rehab programs from drug and alcohol addictions in 2010 according to National Statistics.
In such an beautiful state as Nebraska it is surprising that so many would have an addiction problem. Well addiction is a disease, it starts with a choice to use drugs and/or alcohol but it quickly turns into a compulsion, a disease that the addict does not have control of any longer. On the path of addiction the addict gets to a point where they can continue down that path until ultimately their addiction kills them or they can choose life, admit they have a problem and seek help for it. For those who choose to fight, to live, they have many different treatment options available to them. Many choose to go to a traditional addiction treatment facility, others want holistic treatment and then those who want spiritual healing as well choose a faith-based rehab program.
What is a faith-based rehab program?
A faith-based rehab program takes the traditional methods of treatment and incorporates the Christian religion into it. This treatment process does not force religion on its patients, they offer guidance and healing for those who are ready. The Doctors and Staff of faith-based rehab programs are typically Christians themselves, offering their medical and spiritual expertise to help the patient through the recovery process. The goal of a faith-based rehab program is to heal the patients mind, body and soul from drug and/or alcohol abuse or addiction.
Some Aspects of Faith-Based Rehab Programs
- Medical Detoxification
- Group therapy with a Christian Counselor
- Individual therapy with a Christian Counselor
- Behavioral modification therapy
- Spiritual Guidance
- Daily prayer and meditation
- Weekly visits to a house or worship
- Family meetings
Each aspect of the faith-based rehab program has its benefits to the recovery process. Many who enter into a faith-based program are greatly increasing their chances of maintaining their sobriety throughout their life because the Doctors and staff are giving them key tools to help them spiritually deal with temptation. Keeping them off drugs and/or alcohol, and on God. With his help anything is possible.
